A Delight for Young Readers and the Young at Heart.

A princess trapped in a high tree and a brash young man determined to “rescue” her; a devoted daughter searching for a magical spring to save her ailing father; a teenage girl who is forced to replace her mobile phone with a machete to protect her family from zombies—all their stories interweave in a stirring alchemy set in a rich African backdrop. Ted Neill moves readers from folktale to action, comedy to cosmology, rural to urban, material to spiritual, with the ease of a master storyteller, crafting an adventure along the way that will appeal to the head, the heart, and the soul.

About the Author: Before becoming a writer, Ted Neill worked in Global Health and Education. These stories were inspired when Neill was volunteering and living at an orphanage for HIV+ children in Nairobi Kenya. He wrote Jamhuri, Njambi, & Fighting Zombies when the children requested stories featuring people and places that reflected their own culture and their own world.

Praise from Amazon Readers

“This book was a pleasure to read and thoroughly entertaining.”

“I was completely enthralled by this book of African tales for young teens and children. I love how they were woven together as stories within stories within stories all necessary to save everyone within each at the end.”

“Each tale was so full of color and detail it was like watching a movie with my mind. I haven't felt that way about a book since I remember my mother reading me Anasazi tales when I was small.”

“I think this would be a fantastic book to have as assigned reading in school. It has a great moral and it is something that kids will really enjoy reading very much.”

“A must read.”

“I loved this book from the minute I started it! A blending of three tale tales that end up in one adventure, all set in Africa, for middle grade readers. I can't recommend it highly enough!”

“Interweaving modern with ancient, technology with culture, this young adult novel of three short stories is nothing short of extraordinary. . . ach story is separate yet connected, relaying a timeless lesson seemingly pulled from ancient tomes and reimagined for the modern world.”

“The setting in Africa makes it all the more adventurous and splendid. Well worth the read.”

“This book is absolutely delightful. The balance between fable and modern conveniences in the first two stories was perfect. (A princess locked away in a treehouse that has WiFi? It sounds silly, but it absolutely works.)”

“Jamhuri, Njambi & Fighting Zombies is a wonderful tale full of fantasy and imagination. . . a wonderful job of mixing modern life into this fantasy world while conveying insights about the African culture. . . a wonderful book for young and old across the world.”

“Great for readers of all ages.”
